Sherman Smith

Sherman Smith is a legendary figure whose journey in football has left an indelible mark on the game. Known as the original “Tank,” he became the very first offensive player ever drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 1976. Over the course of his career as both a player and coach, he inspired countless teammates and athletes, serving not only as a dynamic running back but also as a respected leader and mentor. His coaching career included helping guide the Seahawks to their first-ever Super Bowl championship in 2014, cementing his place in NFL history.

But Sherman’s impact extends far beyond the football field. A man of deep faith in Jesus Christ, he has used his platform to invest in the lives of others, discipling young men and pointing them to the hope and purpose found in the Gospel. His story was also featured in the documentary Show Me the Father, where his life of faith and fatherhood continues to inspire. Today, Sherman remains committed to living out his calling as a servant-leader, showing that true greatness is found not in accolades, but in faithfully walking with Christ.
